Most processors charge a percentage of the transaction plus a small fixed fee — commonly around 2.9% plus a fixed amount per payment. On small invoices the fixed fee bites hardest; on large ones the percentage dominates. Enter your processor's rates to see exactly what you net.

Subtract the percentage fee plus the fixed fee from the payment. For a 100 payment at 2.9% + 0.30, the fee is 3.20 and you receive 96.80.

How do I gross up so I receive a specific amount?

Charge (target + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − percentage). To net 100 at 2.9% + 0.30, invoice about 103.30. The calculator does this in gross-up mode.

Can I avoid processing fees?

Bank transfers and some regional methods are cheaper or free, and tools built for cross-border freelancers can cut costs on international payments. Weigh the saving against the convenience your clients expect.
